ABOUT
Optima is a modern medical practice for patients seeking a more thoughtful approach to kidney, blood pressure, and metabolic health.
Based in Sherwood, Oregon the practice serves patients in the Portland metro area and across Oregon and Washington through in-person and telemedicine care.
OUR MODEL
A More Thoughtful
Approach to Care
Optima is in network with most insurance plans but also works as an affordable membership based practice. This allows Dr. Campos to keep a smaller patient panel and spend more time with each patient.
Dr. Campos values getting to know each patient and spending the time needed to help educate and empower patients to understand their diagnosis and take action towards changing their life.
Longer, unrushed appointments
Smaller patient panel for more personalized care
Direct communication with Dr. Campos
Clear explanations of labs, risks, and treatment options
A stronger focus on prevention and long-term health
MEET YOUR PHYSICIAN
Hi there! I’m
Dr. Marilia Campos.
I am a double board-certified physician in Internal Medicine and Nephrology who specializes in kidney health, blood pressure management, and cardiometabolic prevention.
My Story
I’m originally from Costa Rica and feel deeply grateful to have grown up there surrounded by family, warmth, and a strong sense of community. It remains a place that is very special to me, and I’m fortunate to return often to visit loved ones.
I have called Oregon home for many years. It is where I met my husband, a native Oregonian, and where we welcomed our daughter in 2024. Becoming a mother has been one of the greatest joys of my life—and one of the inspirations behind creating Optima.
Why I Created Optima
After becoming a mother, I felt a renewed sense of purpose and clarity about how I wanted to practice medicine.
I created Optima to offer the kind of care many patients are looking for but rarely experience: thoughtful, relationship-based medicine with time to listen, educate, and create personalized plans.
Too often, healthcare feels rushed and impersonal. I wanted to build a practice where patients feel heard, supported, and truly known—and where there is time to focus not only on treatment, but on prevention and long-term wellness.
A Message for Future Patients
My goal is to help you feel healthier now while protecting your long-term heart, kidney, and metabolic health.
I believe the best care happens through trust, partnership, and clear communication. I take pride in making sure patients feel informed, supported, and confident in the path forward.
Whether you are managing kidney disease, high blood pressure, weight concerns, or simply want a more thoughtful approach to your health, I would be honored to care for you.
